Memorial Day Weekend Fun!

Hi, Mary Margaret!

A fun-filled weekend for all at the Hested cabin! We really enjoyed spending time with everybody (especially Mary since she changes so much each time we see her)!

BOAT RIDES:
Cousins Andy (4 yrs) and Henry (2.5 yrs) demanded a boat ride from Papaw before the pontoon boat cover was even removed. They were literally standing on the boat (under the cover) while Papaw and I were removing the cover. Then they expected an immediate boat ride. Most of you know how hard it is to turn down toddler requests so away we went...

Mary (7.5 mths) went on her first boat ride. As usual, by the end of both boat rides she went on over the weekend she was sleeping peacefully. This almost always happens for new young riders.

Big brother Zack, Jennie and Mary

Silly Henry and Daddy!

Sweet Mary!

Andy also fell asleep on an after dinner cruise. He missed the campfires both nights, poor guy. He later got a special s'more made just for him on Memorial Day.

CAMP FIRES:
Enjoyed by all (who were still awake). Henry enjoyed his FIRST s'more. He usually isn't awake when we have campfires.

While we were waiting for the fire to die down some, for better marshmellow roasting; Henry kept telling Papaw and Nana: "there are marshmallows in there" (pointing to a tin that had all the s'more makings in it).
For this being Henry's 1st s'more, he really didn't get that messy! Papaw was impressed.

WATER FUN:
The super warm weather was more like mid summer weather. That didn't stop the boys from playing outside. Instead they had a great time playing in the pool and having water gun fights. Henry liked being shot at with the water unlike his cousins.

The kids also enjoyed the "beach" and playing in the river too. Zack (8.5 yrs) squeezed in some tubing time too.

Henry giggled every time he passed through the sprinklers in the pool.
Some friends of ours, who have a cabin 2 doors up stopped by to visit. Henry and Jenna finally got to meet. Jenna's Mom and I were both due within 5 days of each other but Jenna decided to arrive almost a month early. They were kind of hanging out in the pool together, until...

GATOR FUN:
...Jenna's Dad came back with her Gator (she won it at a town fair, SWEET)! WHOA...Henry looked over and said, "a tractor". They quickly climbed out of the pool and ran over to the Gator. Now, the real fun started.

First, Jenna drove Henry around. Then it was Henry's turn to drive.

Only Henry wasn't so good at the driving part. So, then Andy (who's eyes were also really BIG when he saw the tractor) took over the driving.

Next, it was George's (6 yrs) turn to drive.

Then back to Andy. You could really see the joy Andy was experiencing while driving the Gator.

Andy and Henry both LOVE anything that goes. We call them our "gear heads". Some day they really will enjoy each others company rather than the current fights they have over who's cars, trucks, tractors, trains, firetrucks, etc. the toys are. They both love to read Classic Truck magazines over books with Papaw.

Funny story, my sister Jennie told her boys that for the weekend, they could each bring a backpack full of anything they wanted as long as they could carry it. So, guess what Andy wanted to bring? 9 (yes, NINE) Classic Truck magazines. That's all he had in his backpack. Hahaha. Jennie told him Papaw would have some Classic Truck magazines for him to read at the cabin. Instead he brought a bunch of cars and a few books. Love it!

 MEALS:
As usual we did NOT go hungry while at the cabin. We had a tasty fish fry complete with onion rings one night and delicious smoked turkey breasts another night. Mmm...good!

NAPS:
As always Henry continued to take his great naps. On the weekends his naps still average at 3 hours per nap. Woohoo! This weekend was no different. His Saturday afternoon nap was 4 hours, which also happens often. I guess he grows a lot on the weekends!

That's a serious napper! Look at all the stuff he likes in his bed now.

Look how little Mary looks sleeping in Henry's Pak-n-Play! So, precious.

YARD FUN:
All the kids had a good time running around and playing in the big yard at the cabin. Zack and George climbed the ladder often to ride on the bag swing. I prefer the skychair. Lots of baseballs were pitched, hit, caught and thrown. Even Nana was seen hitting the ball, way to go! Bean bag games were also played.

BACK HOME:
We needed gas before we hit the road to head back home. Henry was awake for our quick little trip to Bellevue. Before we drove back past the cabin (5 mins or less), Henry was fast asleep. Needless to say, Henry was crabby Monday, Tuesday and especially Wednesday night. As of Thursday night he seems to have finally, fully recovered from his weekend o' fun! Good because we have some fun things to do this weekend too.

Henry and all his "guys", George, Bob and Pooh.
Thanks Papaw and Nana for your wonderful hospitality!
I had to add one last picture to prove I really was there.
That's the problem when I'm the photographer.
