Car Show Fun!

On Sunday, Henry and I headed to Sycamore for their annual "Turning Back Time" car show.  Some years this car show has 700-800 cars and trucks.  This year Papaw estimated 500 - 600 cars which is odd since the weather was so unseasonably cool.

Papaw was there with his 1940 Ford truck that he has for sale.  Joe voluntarily stayed home to do some chores around the house.  It worked out well for everybody.

I totally forgot to get a picture of Papaw's truck at the show.  Above is a much better picture Papaw took recently in Lanesboro, IA where he grew up.  He used to fill his bicycle tires here.  Great classic photo!

Henry BEFORE the car show! He fell asleep 10 minutes before we got there.  I waited 10 minutes before waking him up since it definitely was a much needed power nap.

Hey, it's one of those "truck cars, Mommy".  Henry holding up his El Camino by an El Camino. Yuck, us girls in my family never liked these cars especially when Dad would tease us about getting one when we could drive.  I guess we should have taken him up on his offer, we might have had a few more boys interested in us!

This was a very cool car, a 1935 of 36 Ford.  Papaw really liked this one!
Henry liked looking at the engines and in the windows especially in the low ones.

Love, it!

If you look closely you can see Henry and Papaw in the reflection of the spare tire.

Boy heaven!

Do you like Henry's shirt?  I thought it was a perfect shirt for Henry, a few of his favorites, a cheeseburger driving a car and wearing sunglasses!

Whoa, check out the wheelie this car is doing!
Yes, this car really did have 2 wheels off the ground, neat-o!

Henry thought this was a cool truck with rockets!
It's a 1940 Ford, huh it looks nothing like Papaw's '40 Ford!
Too bad, Henry wouldn't stand near it.

We found another one of Henry's favorites, a JEEP.

They also had 3 army vehicles on display at this show.

I knew once Henry saw the ice cream truck I would have to get him a treat.
He chose a Sponge Bob Popsicle, mmm!

Henry thought this car was pretty cool especially since it only had 3 wheels.  He thought the steering wheel was funny looking, it was only a half circle, kind of like his tricycle handle bars.

Henry AFTER the car show.
He once again fell asleep right before we got home, only this time we were less than 5 minutes away.

Thanks for inviting us Papaw.  We had fun.  The weather was awesome! Next year we will look forward to going and seeing your "new" old (1936 Ford) truck there.  I bet we won't be spoiled with such nice weather again.
