Henry experienced a few exciting firsts this past week!
1st Field Trip
He went on his first field trip at school. His school took 80 kids to Blackberry Farm a park district park which is literally only a few minutes away. Henry really enjoyed it. He liked riding the carousel, and the train and the tractor (hay ride) that took the kids to the picnic area. He also really liked the new section, a Tree House Playground. Hmm, this sounds really fun we'll definitely have to go back with Henry to check it out; plus Henry has already asked us if we could take him back. Later, Joe asked Henry if he liked his first field trip and Henry replied, "Actually, I loved it!"

1st Buzz Cut
Right after Henry's haircut we took him to see his first movie in a movie theater. We took him to see Monsters University per his request. We all love Monsters Inc., especially Mike Wazowski. Good thing Henry doesn't believe in Monsters (we can thank one of my uncle Gary's for this!) We went to an 11 AM showing and Henry's ticket still cost us $6.00, only $0.50 savings vs. adult tickets. He still fills up a seat...barely. It took Henry a little while to get comfortable since the seats reclined a tad but that just meant it sucked Henry in more. At one point he was sitting on the very edge of his seat so his legs dangled over. We told him it would not be comfortable sitting like that through the movie. Then he was back to stirring around until I came back with...
a kids snack pack. It was really the perfect size, it's all you need even for us adults too (except a larger drink would have been better).
It was only $3.50 which isn't bad these days in the movie concession stand world. Henry liked the Swedish Fish best. Joe and I liked getting a little taste of movie theater popcorn.
We saw a preview for Despicable Me 2 and Henry chimed right in when the minions started saying "Bito" Some of you may recall "bito" was a favorite word Henry used for a long time, when he was 2. He even had his whole class saying "bito" at one time.
Joe and Henry testing out new seating options coming soon to theaters, "DBox seating". It vibrates and the chair tilts around. As Joe commented, it would be neat/fun at first but then it would probably be annoying after awhile. Plus, the theaters will probably charge even more for this option.
When the movie started Henry immediately started asking questions. We had to remind him he was in a theater. Then he whispered a couple more questions before he quieted down. He was good through most of the movie which is great for a 3.5 year old.
The only movie poster we could find...outside in the bright sunlight!
Henry is holding his ticket above his head.
Later that day, Henry went outside to have some more fun in his gator pool. This was not another "1st" occurrence for the week but I had to share my great action shot.

I have to see Henry's haircut in person. He sure doesn't look like Henry in the pictures. At least his hair isn't sticking out all over when he gets up in the morning. Too cute!
ReplyDeleteBito...bito...at Cub Scouts camp, a whole posse of boys was running around saying bito bito...It cracked me up. I think I liked DM2 better than Monsters University, but they were both good.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good field trip. Maybe I should come to Chicago and join Henry's preschool class. Sounds like fun times!
Love the haircut and the gator pool rocks. Great update!
