Weekend fun and Henry's 1st dentist visit

Saturday morning Henry's school had a Spring Fling, a little fair at the school.  We went last year and Henry had fun so we went again this year. Our first stop, was painting a birdhouse.

Wow, that's a colorful birdhouse!

Next stop...
...decorating a kite!  Later, he added lots of glitter.

Henry's favorite activity was decorating a cupcake!

Mmmm!

After lunch, we went to Henry's first friend party.  He was invited to Aubri's (a girl in his class) 4th birthday party.  Henry and I were the first ones to arrive.  Aubri was super excited to see Henry and wanted him to come out and jump in the jumpy house right away.  Henry was a bit shy at first until his buddies Calvin and Alex arrived.  Then the fun began.  Those 3 were like peas in a pod.  They followed each other around for the rest of the party, laughing and having a good time.

Calvin is right next to Henry on the end. Alex is the 4th one in from the right, in a navy hoody.  Aubri and Essence are right in the center they are both in Henry's class too.

Henry got upset and was crying when they let Aubri be the first kid to take a turn at whacking the pinata.  Luckily, her Mom caught on and offered the stick to Henry to be next.  One of the bigger kids at the party was able to bust open the pinata.

After the pinata fun, it was time for the cake and jello with whip cream. Hmm, that was a new combo I had not seen before.

Finally, Henry had his FIRST dentist appointment this week.  He has had a lot of prep for it at school.  They had a hygienist come to their classroom one day.  They have studied dental health and even brought in their toothbrushes one day to learn how to properly brush their teeth.  They told the kids what eating too much sugar can do to your teeth.  You will get "sugar bugs" in your mouth and those are very bad.  Henry often comments that the dentist people aren't mean.

Henry at Dr. Garvin's, Mommy's dentist since she was 10.

While we were waiting in the lobby, Henry sat down and said, "So, this is what the dentist looks like!" It was so cute.

Henry did very well.  The hygienist was very good with him too.  She described everything she was going to do or use in his mouth first.  First, she counted Henry's teeth. Yup, all 20 of them are there and are pretty snugly packed in there.  Henry really liked the suction tube.  He was good at closing his mouth around it but then I had to tell him to open up.  He sat pretty still during his check-up and the polishing of his teeth.  Joe and I are hoping Henry inherits Daddy's teeth rather than Mommy's!

After his check-up and cleaning, Henry picked out a purple toothbrush and got some bubble gum toothpaste to bring home.  Henry also got to pick something out of the treasure chest.  Ohhh, his eyes lit up when the hygienist mentioned a treasure chest.  Henry picked a little shovel.
