PART THREE
Henry used a stencil for the palm tree but he added everything else by himself. Henry made this at school on January 24th, so he defnitely already had our vacation on his mind.
"How many more days until we fly to the ocean?"
This was the question we heard many times before our big trip to California. At 10 days, we made a count down and each morning Henry was excited to take a number down. Then we had to remind Henry we wouldn't see the ocean right away as we had our Hollywood plans to do first.
Ahhh, the beautiful Pacific ocean in Oxnard, California.
Henry made his own H!
Joe has already mastered how to take panoramic pictures on our new phones. Neat!
There was a huge "ridge" down to the ocean due to the recent high tides. Henry enjoyed climbing up and down it.
After we visited the ocean briefly, we went to lunch while Julie was in town since she so kindly drove us from her house in Valencia to the condo. It was about an hour drive. Again a nice scenic drive. It was nice seeing different crops growing such as oranges, strawberries, nuts and other unknown but different than corn and beans crops. Mmm, the strawberries you can buy at roadside stands in Oxnard are some of the sweetest (no sugar needed) best strawberries we have ever eaten. Papaw was making fast friends with one of the stand sellers.
Arrgh, these are two friendly looking pirates!
We had lunch in Ventura, 15 minutes outside of Oxnard. We went to a small taco place and had the best tacos. Most of us had delicious shrimp tacos, mmm! Nana, had shark tacos (yes, SHARK). Henry ate a rather giant kid's menu bean and chese burrito and more beans on the side too.
After lunch we took a nice and much needed stroll down Ventura Harbor.
We stopped in a fun hat store.
Look at all those teeth!
I told Joe to smile!
This was right after Henry adamently told Julie she couldn't be a wizard after she put on a wizard hat. Julie asked, "why not?" Henry said, "since she was a girl, she had to be a witch." We all got a kick out of these comments, even the store lady was laughing out loud.
Henry and Cedric checking out the harbor. That's a lot of boats.
Some big working boats too.
Henry even rode a dolphin on our vacation!
Woohoo, Julie found a hat that fits her large head!
This is quite a challenge for most of us in our family.
Enjoy another silent video of a beautiful sunset from the 2nd floor balcony of the condo and some pretty plants we saw while out for a stroll.
While watching the sunset, Nana mentioned she saw the color "skyblue pink". Henry argued with Nana that skyblue pink was not a real color since it was not a crayon in his crayon box. Hahaha, classic innocence.
