Last weekend we had lots 'O' fun!
On Saturday, we had Breakfast with Santa. We ate pancakes and sausage and then we listened to a highschool orchestra play some Christmas carols. Henry was quite interested and wanted to move closer to watch. While we were eating breakfast, a lion (it was a Lions Club event) was walking around giving out candy canes. Henry happily accepted a candy cane. Best of all it was a cherry one since he doesn't like mint. Recently, we talked about candy canes and Henry very adamantly said, "candy canes are mint, I don't like mint!" While eating breakfast he told us the lion wasn't real since there was a guy in there. Later, while we were walking back to the car, Henry told us it was a "pretend lion" since he saw his feet. Hahaha.
Henry was able to walk right up and sit on Santa's lap.
Henry has never been afraid of Santa.
He sat on his lap for a few minutes and was chatting the whole time.
Henry was really happy to get another candy cane from Santa. This time it was a mint one though.
On Saturday night, we drove through the Mooseheart light show. Henry enjoyed it so much last year we had to go again. I'm sure this will be a family tradition each year.
We saw many displays such as, a Packers helmet, construction equipment, a candy cane field, sledding penguins, a light show timed with music and so much more. Okay, there was a Bears helmet too. I thought it was great that the Packers helmet came up first in the show, though.
Once again, Henry's favorite parts were the tunnels of lights.
There were 3 of them this year.
At the end of the light show, you could stop in and see Santa and enjoy free cookies and hot cocoa and they had a jumpy house too. We skipped this part again this year, since Santa was only going to be there for another 30 minutes and the parking lot was pretty full. Plus, we already saw Santa that morning. Maybe next year...!
Joe had his own great idea for us to do afterwards ....

We got ice cream, mmm...!
On Sunday, after we got a tip from a friend, we went to a Lego Train show at Cantigny Park.
It really is amazing what people create with legos. They are really quite creative since they don't just build with them; they create real life scenes and scenarios with their creations.
One family came well prepared. Their young son was carrying around a fold-up step stool. He was the perfect height to see all the creations when he stood on his stool. We'll have to remember that idea since Joe had to hold Henry most of the time. As Henry constantly reminds us, he's getting bigger therefore Joe was pretty tired.
Have you ever seen a....
Lego toilet?
It's hard to see but the snowman up on the tank is holding a plunger, hahaha!
Joe really liked the sign in this scene:
Joe also really liked the lego goat as seen above eating carrots.
Henry was way more interested in the exact replica of Cantigny's grounds underneath the floor then the ginormous lego ship on the table. He wasn't the only kid crawling around on the floor looking at the "underground" scene.
After we saw all the lego displays, we took a brief walk outside to check out some tanks. We would have walked around longer but it started to rain pretty hard. Rain in December? Yup, that's right!
Ahhhh, this tanker was trying to eat up Joe and Henry!
Sunday night we made a "special" rice krispie treat!
A choo-choo train rice krispie treat!
Hard at work decorating our trains!
Henry's train. Daddy helped.
Mommy's train.
This was fun and so much easier then making a gingerbread house. This will be a great new tradition for us!
All aboard!
What's better than making and decorating a rice krispie train?
EATING one!
We stored it in tupperware and ate one train car each night this week. Mmm!

I guess we won't get to see the Rice Krispie train live. Looks like a weekend that was packed with fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Henry likes Santa, much more fun that way. Sounds like a great light show and nice and close too. The Legos are awesome, thanks for sharin the pics. We may need to try the train. Where did you get the kit?
ReplyDeleteGeorge doesn't like mint either. Andy and I have been looking at pictures on my iPad. He noticed Henry's red coat from us and he loves the Lego toilet.
