Deck The Halls!

Henry was happy to help with the decorating of the tree this year.

He really likes the lights on the tree too. He often reminds us to turn on the tree lights.

All done! Complete with Henry's vehicle line-up.

The hardest part for me this year will be NOT putting presents under the tree before Christmas. I like to wrap gifts as I go. Now, that Henry likes to open presents we'll have to wrap them and then hide them until Christmas Eve night when Henry's in bed.

We enjoyed visiting with the Buckley's while they were passing through the area. We wish the reason for their visit was for a happy occasion and for a longer period of time but we made the best of it.

Alex (12), Benjamin (6), Henry (2), Emma (10)

Grandma and Grandpa Hested had a little birthday party for Benjamin.

Henry was happy to help Benjamin with the opening of his gifts.

A few days later, Henry was quite happy to share my morning tea with me.

Mmm...my tea was delicious, thanks Jennie. Henry was enjoying his "tea" too.

Later that day, Joe and I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the original one) at a dinner and movie theater with our friends. The 5 kids in the movie were there signing autographs for $50.

Needless to say, we didn't get autographs. I did get a few photos of the kids all grown up.

Charlie and Augustus
We thought it was great that "Augustus" was wearing a German hat.
Later, our friend was patted on the back by Charlie when we were coming out of the movie.

Violet
"Violet" was a very petite lady.
Veruca and Mike TV

Mike TV was very recognizable from his childhood days in the movie. We wanted to hear his voice since it was quite distinct in the movie.  Joe said he got bumped by Mike TV when we were heading back to the lobby after the movie. The stars resumed autograph signing after the movie too. We were disappointed that they didn't come into the theater for a little intro before the movie.  We sat in the 2nd row hoping they would come in and say something!  Oh well, the whole night was fun.

Next weekend we'll be visiting Santa and making holiday cookies. Stay tuned for that update.

  1. Do you have lots of ornaments down low? That's what happens when the kids do our tree. So cute!

Maybe you could try putting out a few presents and see what he does. I remember being surprised that the kids would leave them alone.

  2. We have lots of low ornaments and now higher too since Zack is taller. Kids love the tree! I agree with Jules, try putting out a couple of presents and see what happens. Do something that is for Joe or you so if he does get into it, it won't ruin his surprise. :) Fun, fun, fun! That movie theater does some neat things, glad you are able to go and take advantage of it.
