RIVER = POOL!

Just ask Henry. Papaw tried to argue with Henry that we were at the river but Henry quite persistently kept saying, "pool". So yeah, Henry won this argument. Any body of water including the bathtub is a "pool" to Henry these days.

We enjoyed our long weekend at the cabin despite the strange weather. It was super hot and humid when we arrived on Friday, it rained literally all day on Saturday, then sunny but breezy and much cooler on Sunday and Monday.

Friday night we went to the Jamming on the Dam, the Buzz Berries were the band of the night (formerly known as the Dingle Berries). Henry liked the music and being able to RUN. He is very FAST!

Saturday Papaw had a great idea but sadly it got rained out. We were going to go down river to a nice sandbar for a picnic lunch and some beach and water play time. Apparently, the weather predictions changed from when Papaw had last looked. We managed to stay pretty well entertained inside playing games, doing puzzles and napping.

We didn't have to worry about losing Papaw on Saturday!

Before heading to the pork roast for lunch on Sunday, per Henry's request Papaw took us on a "boat ride"! It was funny, Henry wandered around saying, "boat ride" so that's what we did. It was nice to be outside of the cabin. Since it was windy, it was a tad chilly but we still enjoyed the nice boat ride.

As soon as we docked, it was time to go to the beloved Pork Roast. The pork is really good but Joe really likes the German Potato salad too. Kids 5 and under eat for free. That's a great deal, especially for Joe so he could very happily help Henry eat his German potato salad. The dessert table is also another favorite. There are all kinds of delicious baked goodies. It doesn't matter what there is Papaw always chooses rasin pie, YUCK!

Zack recently became a boyscout so we thought it would be fun for him to roast some hotdogs over the campfire for us to enjoy a picnic dinner. Good job, Zack!

Sunday night it was even more chilly but we still headed out for a sunset cruise aboard the pontoon boat. This time we picked up some neighbors who are also long time friends of the family. Silly me didn't even get any pictures of the sunset, oops!

A weekend at the cabin is not complete without a campfire so that's how we ended the night. Henry was excited he got to join us at the campfire since he took a late nap after the pork roast.

If you look closely you can see some chocolate around his mouth. At least he did enjoy eating a couple s'mores before falling asleep.

Monday we played outside some more before having lunch and hitting the road. We couldn't leave without one last stop to Grandpa's Parlor for ice cream. Mmmmm...they seriously give you way too much ice cream for one scoop and it only costs $2.25.

 We had a great time at the cabin for what will most likely be our last visit this year. It was great to see the Swayne's again. Next time we see them we'll get to meet our 10th niece or nephew. Wow!
