Henry's First Weekend Get Away!

Last weekend Henry went on his first get away without Joe and I.  He went to my parents cabin.

Joe and I were both in our good friends wedding last Saturday so my parents graciously watched Henry for us all weekend. They asked if they could take him to the cabin and since we all know how much he loves it there we said, "SURE"!

Our friends were married at the Anderson Japanese Gardens http://andersongardens.org/ in Rockford, IL.  A BEAUTIFUL place! We can't wait to see the pictures they took with their photographer around the gardens.

The weather was also beautiful. 70 degrees, sunny and a light breeze. During the rehersal the night before we were freezing. On Sunday it was chilly and rainy.

We clean up nice, right?

Beautiful bouquets!

Kelly loves cupcakes and she often makes them herself from scratch, mmmm!
It was great to see some of my old highschool friends again. I forgot how much fun they are, I wish we lived closer!

Lisa and I after hair and make-up! I have eyes!
Ohmigosh, I almost forgot to mention the DELICIOUS and super THICK porkchop Joe and I selected for our dinner. It was soooooooooooo good! One of their guests is an executive chef and he even told Kelly and the staff that it was the best porkchop he had ever had. Wow!

Joe waited all night long for the Safety Dance....boohoo the DJ never played it and it was on his playlist. Jonathan's (groom) ringtone for Joe is that song. Good thing I dragged him out for one slow dance. Do you like my tan? It's the first time I've ever been tan!

I didn't last long in my 2.75" heels!

Papaw and Nana kept Henry quite busy at the cabin. He continued to take his 3 hour naps just like he does at home. Henry learned the colors red, white and blue. How fitting since there is a lot of those colors around the cabin. He watched a tractor move dirt. Then he got to sit on the tractor. He played with a neighbors grandson. He went for walks. He got to swing in his swing down by the river rather then under the deck.  I'm sure he said, "Wow" when he saw where the swing was moved to.

He ate really well like he always does. He chatted a lot. He was so good Papaw and Nana said he could come back again! "WOW!"

***Newsflash***
Sunday night Henry went pee in his froggie potty before his bath! We're not too serious about the potty training thing yet but hey the sooner we are rid of diapers the better! I just told Henry to sit on his potty not thinking he would actually go. Then when he got up sure enough he did go. Wow. I quickly told Joe and then Henry walked over and pointed at his potty and said, "yeah". Like it was no big deal.

  1. You guys look awesome! Love the whole look, hair, tan, dress, shoes. The flowers are gorgeous, oh my goodness! I can't wait to see more pictures. I see Henry got a primo swing spot by the river. I'm glad he had fun with Mom and Dad. I always tell my kids to be good so you get invited back. :)
