Summer Vacation

We recently made our annual summer visit to Vermilion, OH to visit Joe's parents and his brothers family.
Another claw master in training.  Only this was a digger claw game.
Henry successfully scooped out a dinosaur.

Joe's Mom was in town so she rode with us on our way to Ohio.  Henry did NOT take his usual nap either way in the car during this trip.  He was way too busy talking off Grandma's ear on the way to Ohio.  She even told Henry she would take a nap if he did...it didn't work.  As usual Henry was a good car rider.  He enjoyed finding his own treat/snack bag in his backpack.

We had nice weather for most of our visit...except Saturday when our plans were rained out.  It was a HEAVY and nasty rain too.  Some streets flooded and many were cleaning water out of their basements or fixing their sump pumps afterwards.

Soon after we arrived 2 of Henry's cousins (Zack and Alex) came over to Grandpa and Grandma's to play.  SOCCER was the big outdoor sport played during this trip.  Last year it was baseball.

We enjoyed our usual visits in downtown Vermilion which included:
the library, the beach, Granny Joe's, the Soda Grill, Swan Creek Candle store (the boys love sniffing candles, seriously they really do) and of course Brummer's Chocolate Store
Henry usually drives the ship but this year he decided to enjoy the ride.  The library also has a really good tropical water fish tank that has "Dory" and "Nemo" fish in it and all kinds of other cool fish including a star fish and sea anemones.

Walking down to the local beach.

We went back to the local beach later for some water fun.
Grandma and Joe enjoying the view.

 Henry and Zack

 Henry getting some air time!

Ahhh, it's a BUG!

 Good morning, Uncle Ocho.
We always tease Henry that Grandpa and Grandma's dog is Henry's Uncle.  Henry does not agree!

On Saturday, we were going to go to Oberlin for a family fun fair which included a small car show too but we got rained out.  While stuck inside we watched a movie that Henry picked out from the library.  Later, Henry found some really old baseball cards that he enjoyed "playing" a baseball game with the players.

After the rain went away, we went back into town.

We treated ourselves to some yummy ice cream.
We successfully convinced Henry to NOT get Superman ice cream.  He got Buckeye Bites instead, mmm vanilla ice cream with chocolate swirls and chocolate covered peanut butter bites.

On Sunday we went to a nice beach in Lorain.

 Hi MOM!

More great air time!

Alex and Henry enjoying some beach fun too.

Grandpa, Alex and Henry coming back from concessions.

Perks at this beach include:
bathrooms, showers, concessions and a playground

Ahhh, a beached monkey!

Mmm, we all enjoyed some of my Red River Shake (a cherry 7up shake) at
Big Ed's Main Street Soda Grill.  Henry got a slushy and Daddy got a strawberry phosphate.

On the morning we left we finally got to see Nick.  He's a busy kid these days.

Werth cousins:  Henry (4.5), Alex (8.5), Zack (7) and Nick (11)

As always we really enjoyed our visit.  Thanks Grandpa and Grandma for being great hosts.

  2. Joey needs to give Benjamin some claw training when he comes again. Benjamin loves those machines, but doesn't do very well. Emma fairs pretty well though.

Glad you had a good trip.
