HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
This is the first year we carved a pumpkin with Henry.
It was probably the first time Joe ever really carved a pumpkin all by himself too.
Henry helped Daddy dig out the pumpkin guts.
Not bad for our first pumpkin!
Our little Zebra!
The One Star shoes were perfect for this costume but Henry wanted to wear his other shoes. His Cars shoes were a big hit. Henry got lots of compliments since they lit up when he turned to walk away from each porch.
The first house Henry trick or treated at (Aunt Debbie's neighbors house). This year is really the first year we actually took Henry trick-or-treating too since last year he was sick.
One of the cute little doggies at the first house.
There was another dog like this one dressed up like a shark!
Next, we stopped at Aunt Debbie's house.
Love it!
I must comment that this Zebra costume has been worn by at least 4 of Henry's cousins on my side of the family. We had to carry on the tradition of wearing it. This costume worked good for getting in and out of the car too since we made some special stops on Halloween night.
At first, Henry was pretty shy...it didn't take him long to get the hang of it though. He was pretty good at remembering to say "thank you" too. Then between houses he'd ask if we could go to another one. We didn't see very many kids out, hence why Henry got so much candy at the few houses we went too.
As we were walking up the driveway of one house in Aunt Debbie's neighborhood Henry stopped and put down his bucket and said, "this house has (then he held up both hands with 3 fingers) two 3's on it". He was talking about the address. It was so cute!
Next stop...
Trick or treat, Nana and Papaw!
(Papaw sure loves his sports teams...you hardly see him NOT wearing any Packers or Cardinals gear during their seasons!)
Town home neighborhoods rock for trick or treating. One driveway often = 2 porches!
We also found that many people have hard to reach door bells for little kids anyways and that a lot of people have cracked doorbell buttons. (Our's is broken too!)
After we went up and down Papaw & Nana's street we went inside to eat some chili for a late dinner. The weather really wasn't too bad this year for Halloween. It wasn't windy, raining, sleeting or snowing. It did get kind of nippy after the sun went down but not bad at all for a Halloween night in the midwest. Underneath Henry's costume he was layered up pretty good. We had his coat in the car just in case. He did wear mittens briefly but it was too hard to pick out candy with mittens on.
We liked this pumpkin. Mickey Mouse is behind it.
Thanks again for dinner Papaw & Nana. Afterwards, we headed over to Joe's grandparents for a quick visit. Henry was their only Trick or Treater. Then we had one last stop...which ended up being a really fun stop. We stopped at our friends house and Henry was excited to see that they were handing out bags of chips. Great idea, kids love chips. Henry picked Cheetos but of course! He did pick Doritos for Joe and I.
We went inside and visited for a little bit too. Henry and Daddy were sitting on the couch looking at a Harley book while we chatted. Then Larry took Henry out into their garage and...
Henry got the best treat of all!
Henry has gone to many Touch A Truck events, and sat in airplanes, rode in trains but he has NEVER sat on a motorcycle. Whoa, Henry's still talking about this! He comments that he sat on the motorcylces but they weren't moving. Thanks Larry & Barb for the fun visit!
Tonight, after dinner we let Henry pick out a couple treats from his bucket of candy. He picked out a Twix and when he took a bite he said, "hey, there's cheese in there!" Hahaha! Now, he says, "it's caramel, chocolate and cookies!"

Great Halloween fun. It is almost as much fun for kids as Christmas and it is a lot less work for Moms and Dads.
ReplyDeleteAwesome update, what a fun time for all of you. I agree with Mom, Halloween is big time for the kids, they love it. Henry looks perfect in the zebra, it has made the rounds. Keep it for Mary! We had a neighbor handing out chips, I thought that was a great idea too. The pumpkin carvings have gotten fancier since we were kids, they have lots of nice tools out now to do it. You three did great on your first one.
ReplyDeleteLove the zebra costume. The mane is my favorite part.
ReplyDeleteThe kids got chips one time in Austin. They thought it was great too because they got to pick which kind they wanted.
