Up, Up and Away!

Last Sunday morning we went to the Calvacade of Planes Event at the Clow International Airport in Bolingbrook. The weather was partly cloudy which we prefer and it was not super HOT like it was on Saturday. Henry got in for free, adults only cost $3.00. Soon after being there Joe said, "we definitely got our $3.00's worth." I agreed!

Periodically, planes flew overhead, landed or took off. We also got to see a helicopter take off, that was pretty cool. There were people parachuting out of planes. Rides in an airplane were available for a pretty hefty fee. They also had a "plane" they were pulling around with a tractor that people could ride in.
Henry was happy walking around looking at all the planes and watching them land or take off.

Henry enjoyed sitting in a plane. Afterwards, Joe said, "Even I've never sat in a pilot's seat before." While Henry was sitting in the pilot's seat, he pointed up to the sky like he always does when he sees or hears airplanes (which is often since we live very close to a small airport). It was cute, the actual pilot thought so too.

Of course there were a few non-aircraft vehicle's at the event too. Henry really liked the big army truck mainly because of the big wheels! There were a couple army planes there too.

The book bus was pretty cool too. That's a dream combo for Henry who loves books and anything with wheels!

We're pretty sure these are the types of planes we often see flying out over the cornfields near our house.
Now, that would be a cool ride to take!

Next year, I'm pretty sure Papaw will be joining us if we go again since he used to be an avid model airplane collecter/flyer back in his younger days!

  1. Very fun! I don't know if I've ever sat in a pilot's seat either, now that you mention it. The bookmobile is a perfect combo. for him, good point!
