Let's Play Ball...

Baseball season is (was) in full swing. A whirlwind look at Henry's Spring season of coach pitch baseball.
Yikes, Henry's team this year was the White Sox. It was hard to root for the Sox. Surprisingly, Henry was not that upset about the team he was on. It's just a fun league.
 Team Line-Up
We started the season off with a Chicago "cross-town" classic game.

 White Sox WIN!

Game 2 was originally rained out.
They still look like bobble-heads with the batting helmet on.
We squeezed the make-up game in on a chilly Saturday afternoon.
White Sox WIN!

Game 3! It was a hit!
White Sox WIN!

 Game 4!
Henry (#1) and his buddy, Evan.
We can't wait for their names to be on the back of the shirts. The numbers help a lot though.
White Sox WIN!

Game 5 - White Sox WIN!

Half way through another great season of baseball.

TIME OUT...from White Sox baseball.

We went to a Star Wars themed Kane County Cougars game on May 27th.
It was a school reading program reward night. Henry had fun seeing friends and school staff at the game.

Whoa, that is a generous serving of dipping dots in a baseball helmet souvenir. Mmm.banana split!

The game had a couple of rain delays. We stayed the whole time and later moved up with friends to the front of our section.

Chewbacca enjoyed the fireworks!

Another WhiteSox game rained out.

On June 1st, Henry went to a Cardinal's vs. Brewers game in Milwaukee.
We compromised on what Henry wore. Papa wanted him to wear a Cardinals shirt..ugh..yuck. We thought a red shirt and a PACKERS hat was more fitting. Papa keeps getting invited to games with great seats!
 Papa, Henry and Hank Aaron!

Back to White Sox baseball...nope now Tigers baseball...!
On June 3rd, Henry and another teammate, Evan helped out Evan's older brother's team (a kid-pitch league/one level up) by filling in for missing team members. Now, the Tigers didn't have to forfeit a game.
This picture is to show the height differences, that's Henry on 3rd base.
Henry and Evan were both given a Tigers hat which was quite exciting.
I love this picture, showing our little guy mixed in with the "big" guys. Henry was also one of the smallest/youngest kids on his White Sox team.

Henry walked twice and struck out once, not bad. He also made a great catch at 1st base. Yes, Henry played 1st base one inning, this was very nerve racking.

Henry and Evan enjoying a well deserved treat at McDonald's after their big game.

 A catcher or a turtle?
Henry wasn't to fond of playing the catcher, mainly because the gear didn't fit him very well.

Final game. The only game the White Sox team lost all season long.

It was a great season. Great coaching. Great teamwork. The White Sox made a few double plays and even one triple play throughout the season, impressive for a 6-8 year old league.

Most of the team, missing 2 players.
Coach Kyle (on the left) was the main coach. Coach Eddie (right/wearing hat) was an assistant coach.

Quite a few other Dad's including Joe helped out a lot too during this season.

Henry claims his record for the season is 11-1 since the night he played for the Tigers they also won.
It was a whirlwind of a season but we enjoyed watching Henry and his teammates improve through the season. We are happy they lost one game so their heads didn't get too big!
