Enjoying a Favorite Summer Pastime

BASEBALL!!!

Henry is enjoying lots of baseball this summer!
He played on his first baseball team, the Stingers.
Henry's first sports trophy! He was quite proud of his trophy.

Thanks Papaw-Nana for coming to watch Henry play in his last T-Ball game.

Arrrrgh, Pirate Hank is ready for Pirate and Princess night at the Cougars game.

The Werths!
Pirate Hank impressed with a 2 foot licorice rope!
We had a fun night with friends from Henry's Kindergarten class.
Henry and Autumn enjoying the fireworks!
The fireworks are short and sweet. 20 minutes of continuous action!
After the game Henry and Joe ran the bases.
Henry likes to remind Joe that he beat him at running around the bases.
Joe likes to remind Henry that he once played a game on the Cougars field, when he was in high school.
Such excitement for my boys!

On July 10th Henry went to his first PRO baseball game.

Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago Whitesox
They had AWESOME seats thanks to a very generous gift Papaw received.

3rd Row behind the Cubs dugout
 Let's play ball!
For the record, Joe really liked the JUMBO-TRON addition to Wrigley Field.

Look how close they were. This picture was NOT taken with any zoom!

Henry was definitely spoiled for his first pro baseball game.

Joe told Henry to stand on his lap at the bottom of every inning in hopes of getting a ball! Joe made sure to tell Henry there was a real good chance he wouldn't get a ball but they would keep trying.

At the end of the 2nd inning, Anthony Rizzo saw Henry standing tall and tossed a ball his way. The guy behind Henry caught the ball but quickly gave it to Henry. WOW! Henry got a game ball from Rizzo!

This ball will have to be added to Henry's trophy shelf.
It even has a little spot of Wrigley dirt on it.

Thank you Papaw, for sharing your very generous gift with Joe and Henry.
This game will definitely NOT be forgotten in their lifetimes.

Henry or a young Joe Werth?
I LOVE this picture!

After the game, a club house attendant was cleaning up the Cubs dugout and rolled a ball across the dugout to a few young guys who were standing in the front row. The guy who got the ball turned right around and gave it to Henry. Joe couldn't believe it, in the 20+ years he's been going to Cubs games he has never taken home any souvenirs as great as Henry did. Henry's FIRST time to a baseball game and he came home with TWO baseballs.
 WOW!
In Joe's words, "we can never top this!"
Henry's other very cool souvenir! Great job picking out a neat hat, Henry!

Too bad the Cubs didn't win. They lost 1 to 0. It was not a very exciting game to watch, action-wise but it was definitely a very exciting game to attend.
