Happy Birthday Henry!

Wow, we have a 5 year old in our house now!
Henry celebrated his 5th birthday on Friday!  Just like his Mommy he has been counting down for a month (Our birthday place mat is great!)

We both picked Henry up from school on Friday and went to Chili's for dinner to continue Henry's birthday celebration.  Henry was really looking forward to getting the super, yummy baked apples as his side.  He was also going to get his favorite, a cheeseburger but since he had a hamburger with all the "fixings" for lunch he went with a grilled cheese instead.

Mmm, look what our waitress brought out for dessert after a a few other waiters/waitresses sang Happy Birthday to Henry.  Mmm...molten lava cake. DELICIOUS!

(As you can see we are entering the crummy smile stage with Henry now.  Thankfully for his school pictures he had good smiles except in his class picture.)

Check out the giant BACON magnet I found at Party City.
I couldn't pass it up!  Henry likes that it has a mustache.

What a patient boy, we didn't open any presents until after dinner which was around 7:30 PM.

Thanks Swayne's for the totally fun Kinetic Sand and sand toys.  If you haven't see this stuff it is totally cool.  It's sand that never dries out and it doesn't make a mess either.  There's a video on line so you can see it but you have to touch it to get the full effect.  Michaels has it on display currently, at least they did last week.

We finally got the movie Frozen too, (Thanks Buckley's).  So, we watched that on Saturday night, early though since it's kind of long and we had to get to bed on time in preparation for Henry's first kid birthday party on Sunday.

We had one really big gift left for Henry but since it required assembly we saved that surprise for after soccer and lunch on Saturday.
Wow, we won't lose Henry on this bike!
It's a tad big but by Spring time Henry should be good to go.

***PARTY TIME!!!***

On Sunday from 12 PM - 2 PM we had Henry's Sports themed birthday party at a park district gym.  The kids were supposed to play 2 "organized" sports activities but they ended up just running around on a basketball court shooting hoops, playing catch, kicking soccer balls and running/tackling each other over a football.  A few of the Dads really enjoyed slam dunking on the lowered basketball hoops too.  It was a good hour of pure fun for the kids and some of the "big kids" too.

After the hour of running, it was time to go back to the party room for some lunch and cupcakes.

King Henry and some of his good buddies!

Henry enjoyed his party with 13 friends.
There were 9 boys (including Henry) and 5 girls.
Henry thought we needed to invite 4 more girls to come to his party.  Hahaha!
Woohoo, we survived our first kid birthday party.

I must add that this is the first year since Henry was born that the weather was "normal" Fall weather for his birthday.  All of his birthdays leading up to this one had 70 - 80 degrees weather.
