Last Sunday we returned to the Big Bugs exhibit at the Morton Arboretum. I say returned because Joe and I went to it the first time it was at the Arboretum a few years ago. We knew Henry would really enjoy it too!
The dragonfly!
The praying mantis!
The ladybug!
The Daddy long leg spider!
The ants, see all 3 of them.
Wow, look how strong Henry is!
After we found all the bugs (there were 12 of them total) we continued to explore other areas of the arboretum.
First, we wandered through the Conifer area. Henry was excited to find a pinecone (he's holding it up but it's kind of hard to see). We thought this tree was pretty neat. It had a funky trunk.
Henry was having fun running around and sitting too during our walk.
At one point he was making "grass angels".
Whoa, Henry found a tree he could climb.

Peek-a-boo!
Henry liked walking through all the hedges.
After our nice walk it was time for lunch. We ate onsite at the Ginko Cafe, mmm.
After lunch it was time to check out Henry's most favorite part of the Arboretum...the Children's Garden. Joe had never been in this section before, it is very well done and totally worth the pricey admission.
On our way into the Children's Garden we found the one bug we were missing on our Big Bugs hunt.
It was a sneaky bug, the Assassin bug.
Ahhh, water and kids are always a fun combo!
Henry found this area tucked away in a quiet little place.
What fun, crossing bridges to get to the top of this tree section.
Henry also really enjoyed playing in a tree house area. He even climbed to the highest part. Recently, he has been talking about building a tree house some day. Hmm, maybe this will satisfy that wish...!

What a great way to end our fun adventure to the Morton Arboretum.
The Big Bug's exhibit is at the Arboretum until September 8th!

What a cool exhibit! Wish we were closer. I would love to see it in person.
ReplyDeleteFun times. I like the peek-a-boo picture of Henry.
