Iowa Visit

Last weekend we made a trip out to Iowa for our final Christmas celebration.
Good thing Joe got his Christmas present in time for our trip since it was extremely COLD...

BEARDO Joe!

We left a little later than usual on Friday morning, so we could perfectly time a stop at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop for gas and lunch. It worked well. We actually paid under $3.00 for gas all weekend...CHA-CHING!

Henry - Jan 2013 - 3 yrs
Henry loves seeing this truck every time we stop here. Now he asks why it's on rocks?

Henry - March 2012 - almost 2.5 yrs

Henry - 15 mths old
I hope to continue this tradition for a couple more years. OH, so cute!

Whoa, he can reach the steering wheel much easier this year.
Henry wanted us to close the door right away so he could "drive".

Joe looks so serious!

Jalene's cousin Amy testing out Beardo!

There is a toddler version too but it was kind of pricey for a kiddo!
Jalene's cousin Ashley and niece Mary.

Remember Patrick?
He was the 2nd choice for Henry to have his monthly pictures taken with during his first year.  The tiger won by a landslide.

Patrick and Henry (1 week old)

Well, my cousin Trent was one of the few who voted for Patrick. He asked where he could find one so we thought Patrick would be a "nice"  additional wedding gift, hahaha! Trent got married in August.

Henry being silly with Great Grandma Scherbring, who will be 92 at the end of February.

Henry's Great Grandma Powers.
She never misses a chance to play cards, especially Cribbage.

I didn't get too many other pics from this party since my memory card was claiming it was full even though it was a brand new one.  Henry did take a few pics on his camera but the quality is pretty low.  I may share some soon though. Henry was entertained all day with those nifty, portable train sets a cousin brought along.

Before we headed home on Sunday, Henry was really excited to see it SNOWING.  Iowa already had
"a lot" more snow then we've had so far this winter.  Too bad most of it had already melted.  Henry could have played in the snow there. We're still waiting to build our first snowman with Henry.

How to tell if a kid had a good time....he slept almost half of the way home.

He must have been really tired since he fell asleep while eating his snack.

Hahaha, this was awesome.  Henry tried to rub his face a couple times while he was sleeping.  It didn't work so well since his hand was in the bag.  Later, he did get his hand out of the bag and the rest of his snack escaped too.  Hahaha! He didn't wake up until we got home. We really wanted to see his reaction to the Teddy Grahams all over him.

  1. Nice beardo. That thing is hilarious. I never did try it on. I saw they have a mustache to put on your beer bottle too. Who thinks of this stuff? The sleeping in the car with the snack is great.

  3. I like the growing up pictures with the truck better than with Tiger.

  5. Great memories. Glad you got some pics as I think you and Henry were the only photographers at the party.
