Once again Mary was smitten with Uncle Joe.
Every time Joe walked into a room, Mary would say, "Hi, Joe!" It was soooo cute!
Henry's favorite past time this trip was the bag swing. It is definitely a kid favorite!
When Joe and I arrived on Saturday (Henry rode over with Papaw and Nana on Friday) we were surprised to see Henry on the bag swing. Later, Henry told us Papaw said he could climb to the 3rd step on the ladder. On Saturday and Sunday, Henry needed help getting situated (somebody had to hand him the bag) to swing off the ladder.
By Monday, Henry was a bag swinging pro...
Joe and I will admit it was scary at first to watch Henry do this but he did get the hang of it quickly. He loved it so much. He definitely felt like one of the big kids. The bigger kids climbed to the 5th step. Maybe next year we'll let Henry climb to the 4th step.
On Saturday, we all enjoyed a nice sunset cruise, only it was down river, so we didn't see too much of the sunset. I did snap one picture of the sunset though!
Silly Nana and George
Check out the sweet SANDY beach Papaw has found on the banks of the Mississippi River. This beach isn't too far at all from the cabin. Papaw, Jennie and her kids enjoyed this beach last year.
Cousins: Zack (10), George (7), Andy (5), Henry (3.75), Mary (23.5 mths)
Goodbye beach!
Mary's curls are so cute.
She's also getting super cute freckles on her face like big brother Andy. Love, it!
On Sunday we went to Iowa's largest pork roast up town, in Bellevue. The pork is always super yummy but Joe and Papaw really like the German potatoe salad too. After eating the kids enjoyed playing games and jumping in the jumpy house again this year.
Look at all that beach. Too bad we can't have a sandy beach.
We saw lots of teeny tiny frogs (the size of dimes) hopping all around on our beach stroll.
On Sunday night we did squeeze in a campfire. We all had to have a s'more!
We finally found time (it's always amazing how time flies by when you are at the cabin) to make a trip up the ginormous hill to the lookout point of the Bellevue State Park. Henry was pretty amazed at the view and wondered how we got up there. We also went to the butterfly garden. There weren't too many butterflies but we did see a few.
Thanks Papaw and Nana for having us all at the cabin again. Until next year...!

Welcome! We had a fun time too. Sure glad we had good weather and low water this time.
ReplyDeleteLove the view from the park. Mary and Joe just crack me up. Maybe Joe needs a little girl too...;) So sweet.
