Lions, a Hippo and Lots of Leaves...Oh My!

Yes, we finally made it to the Brookfield Zoo. We went last Sunday while the weather was still pretty good. It was windy but it was a warm wind and it got warmer while we were there, hence the change of hats for Henry.

To our great surprise Henry wasn't really into the animals as much as we thought he would be. He was really into the leaves, climbing the benches and anything else he could explore. He did like seeing some of the animals but his attention span was very short! Oh, well we still had fun.

Henry was having more fun playing in the leaves then watching the Black Bear wander around at this exhibit.

We saw 2 lions laying around until these two ladies walked up to the viewing window spot...

...then BAM the male lion took off running towards the "ladies" behind the glass. They screamed! I'm sure it was scary to see a big lion running at you. I guess they looked like a tasty lunch.

Our favorite animals from this trip to the zoo was the "pile" of African Dog Puppies.

They were all curled up together on a big rock. Then every few minutes or so, one pup would get up and move to a different spot. Sometimes the pup would literally walk over another pup to move to a warmer spot. We think the breeze must have been felt on one side. So, then when one pup got up it caused them all to move around to get comfy again. It was funny to watch.

Henry was asleep literally within 5 minutes of leaving the zoo. He did have a good time!
