Summer Time Play Date!

Recently, Henry (21 months) and I had a fun playdate with Christy (a college friend) and Liam (14 months).

Christy and I finally managed to cram in all the things we say we always want to do when we get together at her house with our boys in the summer.

Henry had a chance to play outside with Liam's toys when we arrived since Liam was still taking his morning nap. This worked out well since there usually are a couple squabbles over the Cozy Coupe car or other ride-on toys.

Once we got inside the boys were really into picking out books for Christy to read. Liam has an impressive stash that Christy has mostly found at garage sales. Of course they both fought over the tractor books the most.

After a quick little snack we headed back outside. This time we played in the backyard. Liam knew what was up...he ran right back to the raspberry bushes. Mmm....Henry enjoyed this sweet treat too. Then it was time to get back to some more running until they saw the pool. There was no holding them back so we took them inside to put on their swimming trunks for a before lunch "swim".

Henry had a grand ol' time splashing away and playing in Liam's little pool.
Liam was more interested in sitting back and watching. Maybe one summer he'll be a Life Guard.
The boys were definitely hungry for lunch now. Then they played some more before nap time. Ahhhh....now Christy and I finally had time to eat lunch.

After naps, which ended up being just over 2 hours, we decided we had to squeeze in our walk to DQ. We always say we're going to do it and we never do. On our way there we found a great surprise for the boys.
Liam even had a Cat onesie on that day!
Ahhh, look out Henry!

Christy and I got the super yummy Cherry Artic Freeze's (formerly Mr. Misty Freeze). Mmmm...they are so good and Christy had never had one before. Then I asked about small ice cream cones for kids. It didn't take us too long to decide it was time for Henry and Liam to enjoy their very first ice cream cones.

What a cute little cone!

Mmm...this is good!

Aha, the ice cream beard has appeared.

I had to help Henry eat some of the ice cream so his cone didn't turn into a soggy mess.

Maybe next time we'll lose the bib...!

What a fun day we all had!

  1. I like Liam the lifeguard, too funny. I'm glad Henry enjoyed his ice cream cone! I could go for one today, this heat just doesn't stop. Great memories for the mommies and the boys.
