Road Trip for Henry & Mommy!

Since my sister Jennie is now only a 4.5 hour drive away (vs. the previous 12 hrs); Henry and I decided to make a trip down there. This was my first solo road trip with just Henry. Henry did really well in the car both ways. On the way down, he only got fussy during the last hour to 45 minutes of the trip and he never really cried. We stopped once for gas and lunch. On the way home we stopped once too. Books and musical toys helped a lot and he took a 2 hour and 20 minute nap both ways too.

Jennie and her boys were outside playing when we arrived. Henry was excited to play outside with trucks and ride-on toys galore. It was funny when we first put Henry down because he was walking a little stiff-legged. But it didn't take him long to start running around.

Henry and cousin Andy (he'll be 3 in 2 weeks) played pretty well together. There were a few fights over cars, trucks, books with cars in them and any other toy the other one had that the other one wanted. Typical fights for an almost 1.5 year old and 3 year old.

A rare moment of Henry willingly sitting down of course it's because the TV is on. He'd be smiling and pointing if there was a car commercial on. Henry loved running all around Aunt Jennie's house especially on the hardwood floor in the kitchen and foyer. He also really enjoyed looking out the many windows to watch the birds and especially the cars or trucks going by.

The sign outside Zack and George's room was quickly changed once Henry arrived!

I told Zack to make a funny face! It sure is a lot of work getting everybody's food ready quickly since children are NOT patient!

We found this AWESOME shoe store that really catered to kids. Henry's standing on the platform of a slide they had in the store. Once George and Andy found new shoes the boys got a cookie, a balloon and a sticker. Henry was busy charming the ladies while he gobbled up his cookie.

After multiple pictures of the cousins we had to have a funny one. I think Jennie got the best smiling picture. (Andy almost 3, Henry 17 months, George 5 & Zack 8)

Henry is really enjoying riding forward in carseats. He loves looking out the window and seeing all the cars, trucks, semi's etc. going by. He looks like such a big boy just like cousin Andy!

Funniest quote of our trip:
Tuesday morning Andy said to Henry, "You need a haircut!" Then Andy looked at Henry again and repeated "You need a haircut!" It was so funny. Henry really does need a haircut but to defend him he had just woken up from sleeping all night.

Thanks Jennie and Joe for letting us come visit. We had a nice time. Story time at the library will seem second rate now that we went to one with snacks. Your new house is great. You have so much space especially in the finished basement. We can't wait to come back again when we can get outside more and go the the FREE Zoo in St. Louis!
